Diane Lucas is an Australian author of children’s books and educational resources that reflect the landscapes and ecology of northern Australia. She has worked as a teacher and ranger in Kakadu National Park, experiences that inform her writing.
Her books include Walking with the Seasons in Kakadu (2003), illustrated by Ken Searle, which introduces children to the six Aboriginal seasons of the Kakadu region, and We All Sleep (2016), illustrated by Emma Sleep, a picture book that explores animals resting in the Australian bush. She also co-authored Nginingawila Ngirramini: Our Story with children from the Tiwi Islands.
Walking with the Seasons in Kakadu received the Eve Pownall Honour Award from the Children’s Book Council of Australia in 2004.
