Derek Fridolfs biography

Derek Fridolfs is a professional comic book creator who works as a writer, inker and artist. He began his career in 2000 on Marvel Comics’ Wolverine, then worked for WildStorm Productions on Gen-Active and for Dark Horse Comics on Angel. His published work for DC Comics was on Superman/Batman in 2007, followed by DC work on titles including Teen Titans, Green Lantern Corps, Detective Comics and Batman Legends.

Fridolfs has worked with Dustin Nguyen on Batman: Li’l Gotham and Justice League Beyond. His comics writing also includes Batman: Arkham City Endgame, Arkham Unhinged, Detective Comics, Legends of the Dark Knight, Adventures of Superman, Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman, Catwoman, Zatanna and JLA. He has also written comics based on animated series including Adventure Time, Regular Show, Dexter’s Laboratory and Looney Tunes.

In September 2015, Scholastic announced that Fridolfs and Dustin Nguyen would write and illustrate three DC Comics: Secret Hero Society illustrated novels for middle-grade readers. The first book, Study Hall of Justice, was planned for publication in February 2016 and reimagined Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman as middle-grade students in a mysterious school, using comics, journal entries, newspaper articles and doodles.

Fridolfs continued to write illustrated and graphic fiction connected with well-known screen and game properties. Stranger Things: Tales from Hawkins 2, written by Fridolfs and illustrated by Sunando C, Bradley Clayton, Mack Chater and Vincenzo Riccardi, was published as a graphic novel collection of stories set in Hawkins.
