Debi Gliori is a Scottish author and illustrator, known for her work in children’s literature. She studied at Edinburgh College of Art. Gliori’s first book, Mr Bear, was published in 1991. She is the creator of the popular Mr Bear picture book series, which includes titles such as Mr Bear Babysits and Mr Bear to the Rescue.
Gliori has written and illustrated numerous picture books, including No Matter What (1999), The Trouble with Dragons (2008), and Night Shift (2017). Her work also includes the Pure Dead series for older children, beginning with Pure Dead Magic (2001), followed by sequels such as Pure Dead Wicked and Pure Dead Brilliant.
Her books have been translated into multiple languages and published internationally. Gliori has been shortlisted for several awards, including the Kate Greenaway Medal. In 2005, she was the writer-in-residence at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. No Matter What was shortlisted for the Children’s Book Award and has sold over a million copies worldwide.
Debi Gliori continues to publish picture books and novels for children and young adults. Her book Night Shift was published by Hot Key Books in 2017.
