David Levithan biography

David Levithan is an American author and editor known for his contributions to young adult literature. He began his career in publishing at Scholastic, where he edited the Push imprint. Levithan’s debut novel, Boy Meets Boy, was published in 2003 by Alfred A. Knopf. The novel received the Lambda Literary Award in the Children’s/Young Adult category in 2004.

Levithan has written several other novels, including The Realm of Possibility (2004), Are We There Yet? (2005), and Wide Awake (2006). He is also known for his collaborations with other authors. With Rachel Cohn, he co-wrote Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist (2006), Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List (2007), and Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares (2010). Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist was adapted into a feature film in 2008.

Levithan’s novel Every Day was published in 2012 by Alfred A. Knopf and was followed by sequels Another Day (2015) and Someday (2018). Every Day was adapted into a film released in 2018. His other works include Two Boys Kissing (2013), which was shortlisted for the 2013 National Book Award for Young People’s Literature.

Levithan has received multiple accolades, including the Margaret A. Edwards Award from the American Library Association in 2016 for his significant and lasting contribution to young adult literature.
