Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
David Arnold is an American author known for his contributions to young adult literature. His debut novel, Mosquitoland, was published by Viking Children’s Books in 2015. The book received critical acclaim and was named a Junior Library Guild selection. Mosquitoland was also longlisted for the 2015 National Book Award for Young People’s Literature.
Arnold’s second novel, Kids of Appetite, was released in 2016, also by Viking Children’s Books. His third novel, The Strange Fascinations of Noah Hypnotik, followed in 2018. In 2021, Arnold published The Electric Kingdom, a post-apocalyptic novel for young adults, through Viking Books for Young Readers.
His works have been translated into multiple languages and have appeared on several best-of-the-year lists. Mosquitoland was optioned for film adaptation. Arnold’s books are published by Penguin Random House.
In 2015, Mosquitoland was named one of the best books of the year by Publishers Weekly and School Library Journal.
