David A. Kelly is a children’s author, travel writer and technology analyst. He writes the Ballpark Mysteries series and the Most Valuable Players (MVP) series for young readers. His first children’s book was Babe Ruth and the Baseball Curse, a true story about baseball history.
Ballpark Mysteries #1: The Fenway Foul-up was published by Random House Books for Young Readers on 22 February 2011, with illustrations by Mark Meyers. The series follows cousins Mike and Kate as they solve mysteries at American baseball parks, and the first book is aimed at readers aged 6 to 9 in Grades 1 to 4.
The Ballpark Mysteries: The Dugout boxed set brings together The Fenway Foul-Up, The Pinstripe Ghost, The L.A. Dodger and The Astro Outlaw. Random House Books for Young Readers published the boxed set on 27 September 2016 for readers aged 6 to 9 in Grades 1 to 4.
Kelly has also written picture books and non-fiction for children, including Miracle Mud: Lena Blackburne and Secret Mud that Changed Baseball and Tee Time on the Moon. Tee Time on the Moon, illustrated by Edwin Fotheringham, was published by Calkins Creek on 25 July 2023 for readers aged 7 to 10 in Grades 2 to 5.
