Constanze VonKitzing biography

Constanze von Kitzing is a German children’s book illustrator and author. She trained in illustration and visual arts in Weimar, Minneapolis and Hamburg. Her early professional work included design work for the cover department of Der Spiegel before she moved into children’s book illustration full time.

Her work includes books, magazines and educational materials. Her German-language books include Ich bin jetzt … wütend, glücklich, stark, published by Carlsen in 2017; Leonie Looping – Das Geheimnis auf dem Balkon, published by Ravensburger in 2017; 10 kleine Miesepeter, published by Fischer-Sauerländer in 2016; and Gebete für Kinder, published by Bahá’í-Verlag in 2009.

Her English-language children’s books include The Chilly Penguin, written and illustrated by Constanze von Kitzing and translated by Lisa Rosinsky. She also illustrated The Queen Is Coming to Tea, written by Linda Ravin Lodding. The Chilly Penguin was reviewed as a children’s title on 1 September 2018.
