C.G. Moore, also known as Chris, writes young adult fiction and poetry. His debut novel, Fall Out, was published by UCLan Publishing in 2021 and explores HIV, stigma and identity. Fall Out was shortlisted for the 2022 YA Book Prize and the 2022 Jhalak Children’s & YA Prize, and it was longlisted for the Diverse Book Awards in 2022. Moore contributed poetry to PROUD, an anthology published by Stripes Publishing in 2019.
Moore previously taught on the BA and MA Publishing programmes at the University of Central Lancashire. His second book, Gut Feelings, was published by UCLan Publishing in 2021; it was nominated for the Carnegie Medal for Writing 2022 and won the KPMG Children’s Books Ireland Book of the Year 2022. Gut Feelings is a young adult verse novel about Chris, who is diagnosed at age eleven with familial adenomatous polyposis, an inherited condition involving the rapid growth of pre-cancerous polyps in the large intestines.
Little Island acquired world rights in all languages to Moore’s verse novel Trigger directly from the author in 2023. Trigger follows seventeen-year-old Jay after a sexual assault and uses verse to explore memory loss, self-doubt, self-acceptance, counselling and the search for justice. The paperback edition of Trigger has ISBN 9781915071538, 208 pages, and a publication date of 10 September 2024.
