Cassandra James biography

Cassandra James writes young adult fantasy. She grew up in a mixed immigrant family and studied English with a focus on creative writing at Princeton University. Her debut novel, Capitana, was published by Quill Tree Books on 4 February 2025. Capitana is the first book in a duology and follows Ximena Reale, a pirate hunter in the Luzan Empire.

James followed Capitana with Libertad, the second book in the duology. Libertad continues Ximena Reale’s story after her break with the Empire and was scheduled for publication on 16 June 2026. Together, these books establish James as the author of a completed pirate fantasy duology for teen readers, with the dated milestone of Libertad expected on 16 June 2026.
