Bethany Walker biography

Bethany Walker is a British children’s author whose books include funny middle-grade fiction and picture books. Before becoming a children’s author, she worked as a teacher and as an educator in museums and galleries.

Her debut middle-grade book, Chocolate Milk, X-Ray Specs and Me, was published by Scholastic and illustrated by Jack Noel. The story is told through letters written by ten-year-old Freddy Spicer, whose parents are away on a secret-agent mission.

Walker and Noel worked together again on How to Steal the Mona Lisa, a comic art-heist mystery published by Scholastic. The book follows Mia, an art-loving pupil whose school art department is threatened with closure while rumours spread about a lost version of the Mona Lisa hidden in the building.

Walker’s other books include Olly Brown, God of Hamsters, Do Lions Hate Haircuts?, How To Train Your Teacher and Medusa Gorgon’s Bad Hair Day.

How to Steal the Mona Lisa was published by Scholastic in paperback on 3 March 2022.
