Ben Lyttleton is a British football writer, broadcaster and author. He has written about football for publications including The Times, The Guardian, Sports Illustrated, FourFourTwo and The Daily Telegraph.
His books for adult readers include Twelve Yards: The Art and Psychology of the Perfect Penalty and Edge: Leadership Secrets from Football’s Top Thinkers. He is also a director of Soccernomics, a football consultancy that works with clubs and teams.
For children, Lyttleton is best known as the co-author, with Alex Bellos, of the Football School series, illustrated by Spike Gerrell and published by Walker Books. The books use football to explore subjects including history, geography, biology, maths and science.
Football School Season 1: Where Football Explains the World was shortlisted for the 2017 Blue Peter Book Awards. The series continued with titles including Football School Season 2: Where Football Explains the World, Football School Season 3: Where Football Explains the World, Football School Star Players, Football School Terrific Teams and The Football School Encyclopedia.
Lyttleton’s later children’s football books include Puffin’s Football Skills series. The first two titles in that series are Score Like a Striker and Save Like a Keeper.
