Anna McGregor biography

Anna McGregor is an Australian-born children’s author, illustrator and graphic designer based in Melbourne. She began her creative career in graphic design before publishing her first picture books.

Her debut titles include Anemone Is Not the Enemy (2020), which became a 2021 CBCA Book of the Year Early Childhood notable book and was longlisted for the Australian Book Industry Awards Small Publisher Children’s Book of the Year.

She follows this with new works such as Who’s Afraid of the Light? (2023) and Spiro (2024), the latter described as a humorous adventure featuring a determined spider.

McGregor’s picture books are noted for their vivid collage and humorous narratives, blending bright illustration with light-hearted storytelling geared to early years audiences.

The most recent milestone in her career is the publication of Spiro in mid‑2024.
