Anna Brooke is a British children’s author and former travel journalist. She began her career writing as a film critic for Time Out Paris and authored seven travel guidebooks for Frommer’s. Brooke has also contributed to publications including The Times, The Sunday Times Travel Magazine, and the Financial Times.
In 2023, Brooke published her debut middle-grade novel, Monster Bogey, with Chicken House. The book was the winner of the SCBWI Undiscovered Voices competition and was longlisted for the Bath Children’s Novel Award. She followed this with Monster Stink in August 2023 and Two Little Dicky Birds in 2025, both continuing her work in illustrated middle-grade comedy fiction.
In addition to her writing, Brooke has worked as an actress, cabaret singer, and electro-pop artist, composing and performing music for film and commercial projects. Raised in Birmingham and Yorkshire, she spent seventeen years living in Paris.
The most recent milestone in her career is the publication of Two Little Dicky Birds in 2025.

Monster Stink would be a popular addition to any year 2 or 3 classroom. What child doesn’t relate to bogeys and farts? My 6 year old grandson loved it and found it funny as well as ‘ewww’, which was, I think, what the author was hoping for.
