Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Angie Morgan is a British author and illustrator of children’s books. She began publishing picture books in 2012, including Daisy’s Big Dig and Enormouse with Frances Lincoln, followed by Shouty Arthur and Shouty Arthur at the Seaside via Egmont.
Her illustration techniques blend pastels, charcoal, watercolours and digital collage, often incorporating scanned textures from found objects such as fabrics and tins.
In 2015, she published the middle-grade illustrated series beginning with Sedric and the Great Pig Rescue, followed by Sedric and the Hairy Troll Invasion and Sedric and the Roman Holiday Rampage, set during the Dark Ages. One of these won the Turnip Prize.
Morgan is based in Bath and has designed her author events to include readings, drama activities and drawing workshops, working with children aged 5–10 in schools across south-west England.
Her most recent picture book is Small Stanley’s Big List of Scary Stuff, published in 2023.
