Anete Melece is a Latvian author and illustrator known for her work in children’s literature. She studied visual communication at the Art Academy of Latvia and later pursued further studies in animation at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Switzerland.
Melece gained recognition for her picture book The Kiosk, which was published in 2019. The book tells the story of Olga, a kiosk worker who dreams of seeing the world beyond her small booth. The Kiosk was originally a short animated film created by Melece in 2013, which received several awards at international film festivals.
Her work is characterized by vibrant illustrations and engaging storytelling, appealing to both children and adults. Melece’s illustrations have been featured in various publications and exhibitions, showcasing her distinctive artistic style.
