Andy McNab biography

Andy McNab is a British author known for his work in the thriller and military genres. He gained prominence with his first book, Bravo Two Zero, published in 1993. This non-fiction account details a Special Air Service (SAS) patrol mission during the Gulf War, in which McNab served as the patrol commander. The book became a bestseller and established McNab as a notable writer.

Following the success of Bravo Two Zero, McNab transitioned to writing fiction. His debut novel, Remote Control, was released in 1997 and introduced the character Nick Stone, an ex-SAS operative. This book marked the beginning of a successful series, with subsequent titles including Crisis Four (1999), Firewall (2000), and Last Light (2001). The Nick Stone series has been well-received and continues to be a significant part of McNab’s literary output.

In addition to his adult fiction, McNab has authored books for younger audiences. His Boy Soldier series, co-written with Robert Rigby, targets young adult readers and began with the publication of Boy Soldier in 2005. The series follows the adventures of a young protagonist, Danny Watts, and includes titles such as Payback (2005) and Avenger (2006).

McNab’s writing is informed by his military experience, having served in the British Army and the SAS. His works often draw on themes of espionage, survival, and military tactics. Over the years, McNab has received recognition for his contributions to literature, including being awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal and the Military Medal for his service.
