Andrew Forshaw is a British illustrator and art director best known for his work on the “What on Earth?” series of non‑fiction titles for children. He earned a BA in Graphic Design and Illustration from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London.
Following graduation, Forshaw worked as a freelance illustrator for clients such as Nike, EMI and The Guardian. In 2008, he was commissioned by Bloomsbury to illustrate the book What on Earth Happened? by Christopher Lloyd. That project led to the foundation of What on Earth Publishing, where he later became Art Director.
Since 2010, he has created more than 5,000 illustrations for timeline and wall‑book formats covering topics including history, science, nature and sport. His illustrated titles include Absolutely Everything!: A History of Earth, Dinosaurs, Rulers, Robots and Other Things Too Numerous to Mention and various companion sticker‑and‑timeline stickerbooks.
Forshaw’s work features bold line work, textured layers and vibrant colour and appears in educational books, online resources and museum materials. When not working, he enjoys cycling in the countryside.
His role as Art Director at What on Earth Publishing continues, and his illustrated book Absolutely Everything! remains one of the flagship titles in the series.
