Andrew Norriss is a British author known for his work in children’s and young adult literature. He began his writing career in television, co-creating the sitcom The Brittas Empire with Richard Fegen. The show aired on BBC1 from 1991 to 1997 and gained a significant following.
Norriss transitioned to writing novels, with his first book, Matt’s Million, published in 1994. This book was later adapted into a television series. He is also the author of Aquila, published in 1997, which won the Whitbread Children’s Book Award. The story follows two schoolboys who discover a mysterious flying machine, and it was adapted into a television series by the BBC.
Another notable work by Norriss is Jessica’s Ghost, published in 2015. The novel explores themes of friendship and mental health and was shortlisted for the Costa Children’s Book Award. His other works include Bernard’s Watch, which was adapted into a children’s television series, and Ctrl-Z, published in 2014.
