Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Andrew Norriss is a British children’s author and television writer. His first children’s novel was Matt’s Million, followed by Aquila, which won the Whitbread Award for Best Children’s Novel in 1997.
Norriss created and wrote the BBC children’s series Aquila (1997 to 1998). His television writing credits also include co-writing The Brittas Empire (BBC, 1991 to 1997) with Richard Fegen, and writing for the children’s series Woof! (Central, 1989 to 1997), based on Allan Ahlberg’s novel; Woof! won a Gold Medal at the New York Television Festival.
His children’s novels include Bernard’s Watch (1999) and Jessica’s Ghost (2015). In 2016, Jessica’s Ghost was named the winner in the 11 to 14 category of the Leeds Book Awards.
