In 2015, A.M. Howell embarked on a transformative literary journey when she secured a place among a select group of 15 writers chosen to participate in a Curtis Brown Creative Writing for Children course, expertly guided by the experienced Catherine Johnson. This pivotal experience laid the foundation for an illustrious writing career adorned with accolades. Howell’s literary works have earned her multiple award nominations, with a standout achievement being her novel “The House of One Hundred Clocks,” which clinched two prestigious titles – The Mal Peet Children’s Award and The East Anglian Book of the Year in 2020. Another significant milestone unfolded in July 2021 when “Mystery of the Night Watchers” was selected as Blackwell’s children’s book of the month.
In addition to her literary pursuits, A.M. Howell resides in Suffolk with her husband and two nearly grown children. When not immersed in the world of writing, she finds solace in the simple pleasures of curling up with a good book, with her favourite children’s authors including Katherine Rundell, Katherine Woodfine, Lesley Parr, and Lucy Strange. Howell also enjoys leisurely walks in the countryside, swimming, and indulging in copious amounts of tea.
