Follmuth’s debut young adult novel, My Mechanical Romance, was published by Holiday House in the United States in May 2022 and by Macmillan in the UK in June 2022. The story follows Bel, a secondary school student whose unexpected engineering talent leads her to join a competitive robotics club. There she meets Mateo Luna, the club’s ambitious captain, and the pair develop a relationship while preparing for a robotics championship. The novel explores gender expectations in science and engineering alongside academic pressures and first relationships. It was nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award in 2022.

Her second young adult novel, Twelfth Knight, was published by Tor Teen in the United States in May 2024 and by Pan Macmillan’s First Ink imprint in the UK in June 2024. Inspired by Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, the contemporary romantic comedy follows Viola Reyes and Jack Orsino, two classmates whose lives become connected through an online role-playing game. The novel examines identity, gender expectations in gaming and relationships between teenagers.

Writing as Olivie Blake, Follmuth has also published Alone With You in the Ether, One for My Enemy and Masters of Death. Her work includes the graphic series Clara and the Devil, created with illustrator Little Chmura.

Twelfth Knight became a New York Times and independent bookseller bestseller and was selected as a Barnes & Noble YA Book Club pick for June 2024 and a Reese’s Book Club Summer YA pick in 2024.
