Alex Griffiths biography

Alex G Griffiths is a British children’s book illustrator and author, originally from London. He spent his early years in Oslo before moving to Buckinghamshire at age five. He studied graphic design at Coventry University and is known for his detailed pen-and-ink work, often enhanced with watercolour and digital textures.

Griffiths’s debut author-illustrated picture book, The Bug Collector, was published by Andersen Press in 2019. Since then, he has illustrated a range of children’s titles, including A Bear’s Guide to Beekeeping and Professor Goose Debunks Goldilocks and the Three Bears for Rocket Bird Books.

His illustration style is handcrafted, combining line work with messy brush textures. He now lives in Canada with his wife and two young children.

Griffiths’s work has been recognised by awards and nominations. His book The Bug Collector was shortlisted for the Hackmatack Children’s Choice Book Award and the IODE Jean Throop Book Award in 2020, and listed on the Texas Library Association’s 2022 Topaz Nonfiction Reading List.
