Alex English is a children’s author and a graduate of the Bath Spa University MA Writing for Young People. She is a SCBWI volunteer, and her work includes picture books and middle-grade fiction.
Her middle-grade series Sky Pirates began with Sky Pirates: Echo Quickthorn and the Great Beyond, illustrated by Mark Chambers and published by Simon & Schuster Children’s UK on 23 July 2020. The book is aimed at readers aged 8 and above and follows 11-year-old Echo Quickthorn on an airship adventure beyond the Kingdom of Lockfort.
Alex English also writes rhyming picture books for younger children. Stop That Dinosaur!, illustrated by Ben Cort, was published by Bloomsbury on 4 March 2021 as a 32-page picture book; it is a comic chase story about a child pursuing a brontosaurus that has taken Granny.
Her picture-book work includes Yuck! Said the Yak, Pirates Don’t Drive Diggers, Monkey Bedtime and Stop That Dinosaur!. Sky Pirates: The Dragon’s Gold continues the Sky Pirates series for readers aged 8 and above.
