Alastair Steele is a British author and railway enthusiast. His debut children’s book is Locomotion: A Visual History of Trains, a non-fiction book about railway history illustrated by Ryo Takemasa. The book follows trains from early steam engines to modern high-speed rail systems and includes subjects such as Flying Scotsman, the Orient Express and the Trans-Siberian railway.
Steele works for the Mid Hants Railway as a carriage restorer. He has a Master’s degree in Historic Building and Railway Conservation, a background that connects directly with the railway history and preservation focus of his writing. Locomotion: A Visual History of Trains was published in 2022 by Big Picture Press.
