Agnès Monod-Gayraud is an award-winning author and translator, specialising in children’s nonfiction. She was born in New York City in 1980 and currently resides in London with her family. Monod-Gayraud holds a B.A. in Comparative Literature from New York University and an M.A. in American Cultural Studies from the University of Warsaw.
She has translated numerous works from French and Polish into English, focusing on topics such as science, nature, art, and folklore. Notable translations include The Book of Bees by Piotr Socha, which won the 2017 Educational Writers’ Award from the UK’s Society of Authors, and Impossible Inventions by Aleksandra and Daniel Mizielinski.
In addition to her translation work, Monod-Gayraud is an author in her own right. Her debut children’s book, Faedom: Enter the World of Fairies, co-authored with Lorna White and illustrated by Nadzeya Makeyeva, was published in October 2024 by Big Picture Press. The book offers a comprehensive exploration of fairy mythology, drawing from global myths and folklore to present a detailed account of these magical beings.
Monod-Gayraud’s forthcoming works include Understanding Adolescence: A Body-Positive Guide to Puberty, scheduled for release in December 2024, and a two-book series on pet care, featuring Dot the cat and Spot the dog, set for publication in July 2025 by Post Wave UK.
