Our review:
This comic-style book is hilarious, with bright, humorous illustrations that make it hugely engaging. It draws clear parallels with our current social media society as the characters watch videos on ‘Boogletube’. I would recommend it for Key Stage 2, as it includes content that will make young readers laugh out loud.
Nina and her friends face daily challenges, especially with their peer—and occasional enemy—Megan, who always thinks she knows best. Together, the group learns what it takes to become ghost hunters. Ghost Lady Deborah, a character from their history lesson, is mysteriously stuck in her own shoe. Will they manage to save her? Nina documents her investigations as she uncovers the reasons behind this strange event.
Nina and Megan compete against each other to become class captain, but who will win? There are many surprises throughout the book, and their adventures are depicted in a fantastic cartoon style.
Our verdict:
Nina Peanut: Mega Mystery Solver is an entertaining and enjoyable read for older children. It’s perfect for fans of Wimpy Kid and Lottie Brooks.
