Yumi Stynes biography

Yumi Stynes is an Australian television and radio presenter, podcaster and author. She was born in Swan Hill, Victoria, in 1975, and is of Japanese and Australian heritage.

She first became known as a presenter on Channel V Australia, before co-hosting the daytime television programme The Circle on Network Ten between 2010 and 2012.

Stynes has worked across multiple radio stations, including KIIS and Triple M, and co-hosts the long-running podcast Ladies, We Need to Talk with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

As an author she has written cookbooks and guides, often collaborating with Dr Melissa Kang. Their series of non-fiction guides for young people includes Welcome to Your Period (2019), Welcome to Consent (2021), Welcome to Your Boobs (2023) and Welcome to Sex (2023). These titles provide factual information on puberty, consent, relationships and sexual health.

In addition to her work in broadcasting and publishing, Stynes has been a public speaker and commentator on social issues. Her book Welcome to Sex, co-authored with Melissa Kang, was temporarily withdrawn from sale in 2023 following controversy, before being re-released later that year.
