Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Ximo Abadía is a Spanish author and illustrator known for his work in children’s literature. He has created a range of picture books that are recognised for their distinctive visual style and use of bold colours and geometric shapes. Abadía’s work often explores themes suitable for young readers, combining engaging narratives with striking illustrations.
Among his published works is The Lighthouse, which was released in English by Little Gestalten. This book introduces children to the concept of lighthouses and their importance, using minimal text and vivid imagery. Abadía’s illustrations have been noted for their clarity and ability to communicate complex ideas in an accessible manner for children.
Another notable title by Abadía is Frank, published by Frances Lincoln Children’s Books. This picture book tells the story of a character named Frank and addresses themes of individuality and acceptance. Ximo Abadía’s books have been published in several languages and are available internationally.
