Willow Evans biography

Willow Evans is a children’s author whose picture books include My School Unicorn and Mason Grace’s Magical Laces. Both books are illustrated by Tom Knight and were originally published by Hodder Children’s Books, part of Hachette Children’s Group.

My School Unicorn follows Evie, who feels anxious about starting school until she discovers Bobby, a tiny unicorn hidden in her school uniform. Bobby helps her approach her first day with greater confidence. Hodder Children’s Books published the original edition in 2020. A US hardcover edition was subsequently published by Silver Dolphin Books in June 2021.

Evans and Knight collaborated again on Mason Grace’s Magical Laces. The story follows Mason as he worries about taking part in his school’s summer sports day. A pair of supposedly magical shoelaces encourages him to learn how to tie his shoes and join in, while the story explores the idea that participating matters more than winning. The book also includes step-by-step shoelace-tying instructions.

Mason Grace’s Magical Laces was published by Hodder Children’s Books in April 2022, marking Evans and Knight’s second picture-book collaboration.
