Victoria Williamson biography

Victoria Williamson is a Scottish author of children’s books. She studied Physics at the University of Glasgow and later completed a Master’s degree in Education. Williamson has worked as a teacher in a variety of settings, including Cameroon, China, and the UK, and her teaching experience has influenced her writing for young readers.

Her debut novel, The Fox Girl and the White Gazelle, was published by Kelpies (an imprint of Floris Books) in 2018. The story explores themes of friendship and belonging through the perspectives of two girls from different backgrounds living in Glasgow. Williamson’s second novel, The Boy with the Butterfly Mind, was published by Kelpies in 2019. This book addresses neurodiversity and family relationships, following the lives of two children with contrasting personalities.

Williamson’s third children’s novel, Hag Storm, was published by Kelpies in 2021. The book is inspired by Scottish folklore and history, and is set during the time of the witch trials. In addition to her novels, Williamson has contributed to educational resources and has been involved in school outreach programmes to encourage reading and writing among young people.

In 2019, The Fox Girl and the White Gazelle was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.
