Uijung Kim is a South Korean children’s book author and illustrator whose work is rooted in Korean culture and visual narrative.
She studied Art and Design at Gunsan University in South Korea and later studied illustration at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan.
Her picture book Underground: Subway Systems Around the World introduces readers to subway systems in ten cities via die-cut pages that juxtapose exteriors and interiors of trains, along with elements of culture in each location.
Kim has produced freelance illustration work for clients including The New York Times, United Nations, Scholastic, Highlights, Cicada Books and Woongjin ThinkBig.
Her illustrations have received recognition from American Illustration and The Society of Illustrators.
