Tui T. Sutherland biography

Tui T. Sutherland is an author best known for her work in children’s and young adult literature, particularly the Wings of Fire series. Born in Venezuela, Sutherland has lived in several countries and is of Trinidadian and New Zealand descent. She attended Williams College in Massachusetts, where she studied English.

Sutherland began her career in publishing, working as an editor before becoming a full-time writer. She has written under her own name and as part of the Erin Hunter team, contributing to the Warriors and Seekers series. Her solo works include the Avatars trilogy and the Pet Trouble series.

The Wings of Fire series, first published by Scholastic in 2012, is a fantasy saga centred on dragon tribes and their adventures. The series has expanded to include multiple arcs, graphic novel adaptations, and companion books. Sutherland has also written for the Spirit Animals series and contributed to anthologies.

In 2019, the graphic novel adaptation of Wings of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy was published by Scholastic Graphix.
