Tony Russell is a British forester, horticulturist, author and broadcaster with more than thirty years’ experience.
He served as Head Forester at Westonbirt Arboretum in Gloucestershire for fourteen years. After he left that post in 2003, he became active in television and radio presenting horticulture-based programmes.
Russell has written over twenty books on trees, gardens and plant life. Among them are The World Encyclopedia of Trees, The Trees of Britain and Europe, and Cornwall’s Great Gardens.
He has taken part in projects including creating the World Garden at Lullingstone Castle, restoring gardens in Jersey, and consulting on several historic gardens in the UK.
In 2020 Russell published a revised edition of The World Encyclopedia of Trees.
