Tony Collins is a British sports historian. Bloomsbury lists him as Emeritus Professor of History at De Montfort University and a Fellow of the Institute of Sports Humanities.
His books include Rugby’s Great Split, Rugby League in Twentieth Century Britain, A Social History of English Rugby Union, and The Oval World.
Collins also wrote How Football Began: A Global History of How the World’s Football Codes Were Born, a study of the development of football codes in the nineteenth century.
According to his author biography, his books have won the Aberdare Prize for Sports History four times since 1999.
