Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Toby Ibbotson is a British author of children’s fiction. He is the son of the late writer Eva Ibbotson. Toby Ibbotson’s debut novel, Mountwood School for Ghosts, was published by Scholastic in 2014. The book is a humorous adventure set in a school for ghosts, drawing on themes of friendship and courage. In addition to his original work, Toby Ibbotson has also completed and adapted stories based on ideas and notes left by his mother. One such book is The Unexpected Find, published by Scholastic in 2019, which was inspired by Eva Ibbotson’s unpublished material.
Toby Ibbotson’s writing is noted for its imaginative settings and engaging characters, continuing the tradition of storytelling established by his family. His work is published by Scholastic, and he has contributed to the legacy of children’s literature through both his own novels and his adaptations of his mother’s ideas. The Unexpected Find was published in 2019.
