Tez Ilyas is a comedian and writer. His 2015 debut stand-up hour, Tez Talks, had a sell-out run at the Soho Theatre, and three BBC Radio 4 series based on the show followed. His 2016 show Made in Britain sold out every performance at the Edinburgh Fringe, and his third show, Teztify, went on to a sell-out nationwide tour. In 2017 he was featured on the BBC New Talent Hot List and was a Chortle Best Breakthrough nominee. He is also one of the stars of Man Like Mobeen and has appeared on panel shows including Mock the Week and The Last Leg.
Ilyas wrote the memoir The Secret Diary of a British Muslim Aged 13 3/4, which covers his teenage years from thirteen to eighteen and ends as he starts university just after 9/11. The hardback edition was published in May 2021. An audiobook edition, read by Tez Ilyas, went on sale on 8 April 2021, and Tez Talks: The Complete Series 1-3 was published as an audio download on 15 August 2019. The paperback edition of The Secret Diary of a British Muslim Aged 13 3/4 went on sale on 7 July 2022.
