Susan Brownrigg is a British children’s author known for her historical adventure novels. She has a background in journalism and has worked in heritage education, which has influenced her writing and interest in history. Brownrigg’s debut novel, Gracie Fairshaw and the Mysterious Guest, was published by UCLan Publishing in 2020. The story is set in Blackpool in 1935 and follows a young girl as she becomes involved in a mystery at a seaside hotel.
Brownrigg continued the adventures of her protagonist with a sequel, Gracie Fairshaw and the Trouble at the Tower, published by UCLan Publishing in 2021. In addition to the Gracie Fairshaw series, she is the author of Kintana and the Captain’s Curse, also published by UCLan Publishing in 2021. This novel is set in Madagascar and features a pirate adventure.
Her books are aimed at middle-grade readers and often draw on her interest in history and her experience working in museums and heritage sites. Brownrigg has participated in school visits and literary events, sharing her enthusiasm for history and storytelling with young readers.
