Stuart Gibbs biography

Stuart Gibbs is an American author of children’s and young adult fiction. He studied biology at the University of Pennsylvania before working as a screenwriter, developing scripts for major studios including 20th Century Fox, Disney, and Warner Bros. He also contributed to animated films such as Animals United (2010).

Gibbs is best known for his adventure and mystery series aimed at middle-grade readers. His debut novel, Belly Up, was published in 2010 by Simon & Schuster and launched the FunJungle series. Other popular works include the Spy School series, beginning with Spy School (2012), the Moon Base Alpha series, starting with Space Case (2014), and the Charlie Thorne series, which opened with Charlie Thorne and the Last Equation (2019).

His books have appeared on the New York Times bestseller list and are published internationally. In addition to writing novels, Gibbs has made school and festival appearances in the United States, discussing writing and storytelling with young readers.

By 2023, the Spy School series had expanded to ten titles, with Spy School Project X released in 2022, and further entries continuing to build on its success.
