Steven Lenton biography

Steven Lenton is a children’s illustrator and author-illustrator. In 2013, Nosy Crow launched him as one of its debut illustrators or author-illustrators. His early work with the publisher included illustrating Tracey Corderoy’s Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam books.

Lenton has illustrated the Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam picture books and illustrated fiction. He has created many books with Tracey Corderoy, and his illustration work also includes books by David Baddiel, Frank Cottrell-Boyce and Peter Bently.

As an author-illustrator, Lenton created Princess Daisy and the Dragon (and the Nincompoop Knights). In September 2015 he was the first featured illustrator at the Nosy Crow Illustrator Salon, where he discussed his inspirations, creative process, digital and paper-based working methods, and the process of making a picture book from start to finish.

His later illustration work includes Rachel Morrisroe’s How to Grow a Unicorn, published by Puffin on 24 June 2021, and Andy Day’s Dino Dad series. He is also the illustrator for L. Frank Baum’s The Oz Series in Puffin Classics.

Lenton’s continuing work for younger readers includes Rachel Morrisroe’s chapter-book series How to Grow Magic, with How to Grow Magic: The Pesky Pirate Crew scheduled for publication by Puffin on 11 February 2027.
