Soyoung Park biography

Soyoung Park (born 1989) is a South Korean author of young adult fiction. She majored in information and communication at university and worked briefly as a reporter before turning to long-form storytelling. Her manuscripts gained early recognition in national competitions, including the Original Story Award and the Changbi X Kakaopage Young Adult Novel Award.

Park’s debut novel, Snowglobe, was first published in South Korea by Changbi in 2020. Set in a frozen near future, the story follows a teenager whose life collides with a climate-controlled city built for entertainment. The English translation by Joungmin Lee Comfort was published by Delacorte Press on 27 February 2024 across hardback, ebook and audio, with a UK edition issued simultaneously.

A concluding volume, Snowglobe 2, appeared in English with Delacorte Press on 6 May 2025. Together the two books form the Snowglobe duology, a dystopian sequence positioned for teen readers and adopted by booksellers’ discovery programmes and review outlets on release.

Publisher and trade biographies consistently note Park’s journalism background and the awards attached to the original Korean publication. She continues to write for young adults, with an emphasis on high-concept settings and tightly paced narratives.
