Soledad Romero biography

Soledad Romero Mariño is a Spanish author and editor of children’s non-fiction. Trained as a graphic designer at the Llotja Advanced School of Art and Design, she spent more than a decade working as a designer and creative in advertising before moving into publishing. She later founded a small press and now focuses on writing, editing and developing books for young readers, often in collaboration with illustrators.

Romero writes visually led information books that present science, history and culture through clear, themed spreads. Her titles include Superpowered Animals: Meet the World’s Strongest, Smartest, and Swiftest Creatures and Superpowered Plants: Meet the Smartest, Strongest, and Sneakiest Plants (both illustrated by Sonia Pulido), alongside round-up and narrative non-fiction such as Famous Robberies: The World’s Most Spectacular Heists, Awesome Accidents: 19 Discoveries that Changed the World and music-biography picture books in the “Unauthorized Biography” series. She has also created early-concept titles including Opposites.

In addition to authoring texts, Romero works as an external editor for children’s lists, shaping projects from brief to finished book. Her work appears with international publishers and in multiple language editions, and is listed by standard library and trade bibliographies.
