Shannon Chakraborty biography

Shannon Chakraborty writes fantasy fiction and has also published as S. A. Chakraborty. Her debut novel, The City of Brass, was published by Harper Voyager in 2017 and is set in late-18th-century Egypt. The novel follows Nahri, a Cairo fortune-teller and con artist whose life changes after she encounters djinn and discovers a hidden magical heritage.

The City of Brass began the Daevabad sequence. The Kingdom of Copper continued the story after The City of Brass, and The Empire of Gold concluded the Daevabad trilogy. River of Silver: Tales from the Daevabad Trilogy returned to the same fictional world through a collection of stories connected to the trilogy.

Chakraborty later began the Amina al-Sirafi series under the name Shannon Chakraborty. The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi was published by Harper Voyager and follows a retired pirate captain drawn back into a dangerous mission involving a kidnapped girl, sorcery and the Indian Ocean. The book is a historical fantasy and the first Amina al-Sirafi adventure.

The sequel, The Tapestry of Fate, continues Amina al-Sirafi’s story and was published by Harper Voyager in 2026.
