Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Sarthak Sinha is an author–illustrator working in children’s picture books. His work combines bold colour, fluid line and character-led storytelling for early readers, and includes both original stories and collaborations with other writers.
Sinha’s author–illustrator debut, Farah Loves Mangos, was published by Flying Eye Books on 4 April 2023. The book follows a child’s bid to coax fruit from a favourite tree and introduces themes of patience and appreciating seasonal change. His second author–illustrator title, The Boy on Fire (Flying Eye Books, 4 June 2024), presents a contemporary fable about a boy whose constant flames set him apart until he finds acceptance and purpose.
As an illustrator, Sinha worked with science educator Alom Shaha on How to Find a Rainbow (Scribble), published in the UK on 8 February 2024, creating a pair of contrasting red panda characters to support a gentle narrative about noticing light after rain. Retail and catalogue listings place these titles for readers aged roughly 3–7 and record standard 32–40 page formats.
In 2024 Sinha was shortlisted for the Klaus Flugge Prize for picture-book illustration for Farah Loves Mangos. His public profiles note interests in nature, animals and folklore, which inform both subject matter and visual motifs across his books.
