Sara Hashem biography

Sara Hashem is an American-Egyptian writer. Her interest in fantasy and magical realms developed during the two years her family lived in Egypt.

Hashem writes fantasy fiction for adults. Her debut novel, The Jasad Heir, was published by Orbit on 18 July 2023 as the first book in The Scorched Throne series.

The Jasad Heir is an Egyptian-inspired fantasy about Sylvia, a fugitive queen and hidden heir of Jasad, who makes a bargain with Arin, the heir of Nizahl. The book combines epic fantasy, political danger, magic and a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers relationship.

The Jasad Crown, the second book in The Scorched Throne duology, was published by Orbit on 15 July 2025. It concludes the Egyptian-inspired series and follows Sylvia as she faces the struggle to restore the lost kingdom of Jasad.

Hashem’s forthcoming novel Merciful Carnage is the opening book in The Golden Silhouette, a dark fantasy duology. Orbit has scheduled Merciful Carnage for publication on 2 February 2027.
