Sabina Khan writes young adult contemporary fiction and middle grade fantasy. Her earlier novel Realm of the Goddess was published in November 2014. She went on to publish The Love & Lies of Rukhsana Ali in January 2019, Zara Hossain Is Here in April 2021, Meet Me in Mumbai in September 2022, and What a Desi Girl Wants in July 2023. Her books have received starred trade reviews, and her work has been a Junior Library Guild Selection, a Teen Indie Next Pick, and shortlisted for the Sheila A. Egoff Children’s Literature Prize and the Ontario Library Association’s White Pine Awards.
Khan’s fiction centres on identity, family and belonging across a range of age groups. The Love & Lies of Rukhsana Ali follows a teenager whose family takes her to Bangladesh after discovering her relationship with her girlfriend. Zara Hossain Is Here follows a Pakistani immigrant teenager facing Islamophobia while her family waits for their immigration status to be resolved. Meet Me in Mumbai is a young adult novel published in 2022, and What a Desi Girl Wants is a young adult romance published in 2023. Her middle grade debut, The Bloodstone Thief, draws on Islamic mythology and was scheduled for publication on 16 September 2025.
