Roopa Farooki is a British author and doctor whose writing includes both adult and children’s fiction. She was born in Lahore, Pakistan, and grew up in London. Farooki studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at New College, Oxford. She has worked in advertising and as a doctor in the NHS.
Farooki’s children’s books include the Double Detectives Medical Mysteries series, published by Oxford University Press. The series features twins Ali and Tulip, who use their detective skills and medical knowledge to solve mysteries. The first book in the series, The Cure for a Crime, was published in 2020, followed by Diagnosis Danger in the same year.
In addition to her children’s books, Farooki has written several novels for adults. She has also contributed to medical and literary publications. Farooki was longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction in 2013 for her novel The Good Children.
Her children’s book The Cure for a Crime was published by Oxford University Press in 2020.
