Robert Starling biography

Robert Starling is a British author and illustrator of children’s books. He studied design and illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. Before becoming an author and illustrator, he worked as a primary school teacher. Starling’s debut picture book, Fergal is Fuming!, was published by Andersen Press in 2017. The book was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in 2018.

Following his debut, Starling has written and illustrated several other picture books, including Fergal in a Fix! and Super Sloth, both published by Andersen Press. He has also illustrated books for other authors, such as the Super Happy Magic Forest series by Matty Long.

Starling’s work is known for its engaging characters and accessible storytelling, often featuring animal protagonists. His books are published in the UK by Andersen Press. In 2018, Fergal is Fuming! was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.
