Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Richard Osman is a British author, television presenter, and producer. He is best known for his work as the creator and co-presenter of the BBC quiz show Pointless. Osman attended Trinity College, Cambridge, where he studied Politics and Sociology.
Osman’s debut novel, The Thursday Murder Club, was published by Viking in 2020. The book introduces a group of retirees who investigate unsolved crimes in their retirement village. The novel received widespread attention and led to further titles in the series, including The Man Who Died Twice (2021), The Bullet That Missed (2022), and The Last Devil To Die (2023), all published by Viking.
In addition to his writing, Osman has had a significant career in television, serving as an executive producer on shows such as Deal or No Deal and 8 Out of 10 Cats. He is also known for presenting Richard Osman’s House of Games on BBC Two.
Osman’s books have been recognised in the publishing industry, with The Thursday Murder Club longlisted for the 2021 Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award.
