Richard Merritt is an illustrator and designer whose work spans children’s publishing, activity and colouring books, editorial commissions and packaging. He has more than 15 years’ professional experience and previously worked as an artist agent, mentoring other illustrators.
His picture books include Where Are Santa’s Pants? and The Dinosaur Department Store with author Lily Murray. Alongside picture books he has created best-selling colouring titles for general readers, including Art Therapy: An Anti-Stress Colouring Book and The Midnight Colouring Book.
Merritt’s commercial credits range across magazines, design groups and advertising, and he has produced fashion and costume drawings for films such as Lincoln, Jurassic World, The BFG and The Witches. His children’s publishing collaborations include lists at Little Tiger, Michael O’Mara Books and Penguin Random House.
The Dinosaur Department Store was published by Michael O’Mara Books in 2019.
