Rachel Gillig biography

Rachel Gillig is a writer and teacher with a B.A. in Literary Theory and Criticism from UC Davis. She was born and raised on the California coast.

Her fantasy debut, One Dark Window, was published by Orbit on 27 September 2022. The novel is the first book in The Shepherd King series and follows Elspeth Spindle in a mist-locked kingdom shaped by dark magic and Providence Cards.

Two Twisted Crowns was published by Orbit on 17 October 2023. It is the sequel to One Dark Window and continues The Shepherd King story as Elspeth and Ravyn search for the Twin Alders card before Solstice.

The Knight and the Moth was published by Orbit on 19 May 2026. It is part of The Stonewater Kingdom series and centres on Sybil Delling, a Diviner whose visions lead her into a quest involving vanished Diviners, a knight named Rodrick and the gods of Traum.
