Philip Giordano biography

Philip Giordano is an Italian illustrator and artist known for his work in children’s literature. He studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and later attended the IED European Institute of Design. Giordano has illustrated numerous picture books, collaborating with publishers in Italy, France, Japan, and the United Kingdom.

His illustration style is characterised by the use of bold colours, geometric shapes, and a distinctive sense of composition. Giordano’s work often explores themes of nature, animals, and imaginative worlds, appealing to young readers and adults alike. He has illustrated books such as La volpe e l’uva and Le Petit Poucet, and his illustrations have appeared in magazines and advertising campaigns.

Giordano’s book La volpe e l’uva was awarded the International Award for Illustration at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in 2010. His illustrations for Le Petit Poucet were recognised with the Silver Medal at the Original Art Show of the Society of Illustrators in New York in 2013.

In 2021, Philip Giordano illustrated The Queen in the Cave, written by Júlia Sardà and published by Walker Books.
